We’ve been working hard to pull together various tools onto our website that will help our clients to not only browse available properties and find the right home, but also to discover more about them. Each month we’ll be focusing on one of these features.
Walkscore is an very interesting tool that has gotten a lot of media attention recently and we are excited to add the service to our website. Walk Score uses an algorithm to calculate the distance from any address to amenities like restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters and Schools. It displays these amenities on a map so at a glance you can quickly answers to important questions like: What’s the nearest grocery store? How far is my nearest coffee fix?
We have setup our new website to display the Walkscore map under each property detail page beneath What is near by.
You can click on the arrows to scroll through further amenities. If you are really interested you can enlarge the map by clicking on view bigger map on the top right hand corner and browse further afield.
Walkscore also provides a number between 0 and 100 that measures the walkability on any address. We realise that here in Suffolk, walking is usually not an option, but Walkscore provides a rating on how walkable any home is.
Walk Score Description
90–100 Walker’s Paradise — Daily errands do not require a car.
70–89 Very Walkable — Most errands can be accomplished on foot.
50–69 Somewhat Walkable — Some amenities within walking distance.
25–49 Car-Dependent — A few amenities within walking distance.
0–24 Car-Dependent — Almost all errands require a car.
It”s no surprise that most of the homes in the Suffolk area are Car-Dependant! It’s an interesting tool not only for those looking for a home but also for any home owner to see what is nearby. We hope you have fun using it on our site.
